Youth in dialogue

 

Concerts, discussions, films and photos: The association Begegnungen2005 celebrates 50 years of German-Israeli relations with “Acting Friends”.

 

It centres on young people from Germany and Israel. It is they who under the title “Acting Friends” are to embark on concert trips in both countries, discuss films at screenings and talk about the past and present. “Acting Friends”, initiated by the association Begegnungen2005, kicks off in September in Germany and finishes in November 2015 in Israel.

Concerts by various youth orchestras and choirs are set to take place in Erfurt, Cologne, Berlin, Weimar, Essen and Düsseldorf, among others. In Israel the cities Akko, Haifa, Yavne, and Beersheba are among those featured on the programme. One of the highlights will be on 12 September, when the German-Israeli youth orchestra, the Earth People Ensemble, will perform a concert at the public festival hosted by German Federal President Joachim Gauck at Schloss Bellevue.

 

The Begegnungen2005 association was founded on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of German-Israeli diplomatic relations. In cooperation with German and Israeli partners it promotes youth exchanges, participation and integration.
