Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman welcomes the readers of the joint website on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Israel.

 

Welcome to the joint bilateral website of the German and Israeli government on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries.

This website offers a perspective into the cooperative, friendly and especially deep friendship between our governments and peoples.

We share common values and see vision, creativity and a pioneering spirit as core virtues to promote and encourage.

These basic preconditions have made Israel-German relations a reality, notwithstanding the unprecedented trauma of the Shoah, which decimated European Jewry and severed generations of prosperous Jewish life in Germany. The troubling phenomenon of anti-Semitism reminds us why we need to remain vigilant against all forms of intolerance.

Today, into the fourth generation after the Shoah, our bilateral relations span countless domains, including politics, diplomacy, business, science, culture and numerous others.  

 

Given the intense, multifaceted cooperation and friendship in so many fields,  our two foreign ministries decided to introduce these relations to you through a joint website.

We encourage you to explore our shared history and the challenges it has posed to our relationship; to be fascinated by the diversity of cooperation, to be enthralled by the personalities and organizations behind the projects that built the trustful relations over the course of these past decades, to learn about this year’s planned events in celebration of the jubilee and possibly to contemplate ways of contributing yourself to the promising future of our relations.
