Fraunhofer strengthens research ties with Israel

Applied research is the main focus of the new cooperation between Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and Stef Wertheimer.

Israel aims to work more closely with the German Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest organisation for applied research. In addition to a successful partnership with the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in the field of pharmacology, in future Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft will cooperate with Israeli industrialist Stef Wertheimer (photograph). Fraunhofer and Wertheimer’s Zur Lavon technology park have signed a declaration of intent aimed at creating a joint communication platform. While Fraunhofer appreciates the excellence and entrepreneurial ingenuity of Israeli scientists, Isreal hopes the partnership will lead to innovation in its industrial structure. Initially, joint research projects are to be initiated, scientists exchanged and knowledge transer intensified. Fraunhofer has 67 institutes and research institutions in Germany employing roughly 23,000 people qualified mainly in the natural sciences and engineering.
