Exciting moments, new perspectives

The relationship between German and Israel is vibrant, multifaceted and wide-ranging. It ranges from the classic fields of political discourse to many others. Among them: the all-inclusive “mishmash”.

Welcome to our mishmash –  pronounced ˈmɪʃmaʃ. This term is used in Hebrew, Yiddish, English and many other languages.  It is often applied to describe the nature of Yiddish itself, as this language sounds like a mishmash of German and Hebrew to the unschooled listener. This section of the Website is where we present the colorful, palpable side of the Israeli-German relationship. This section is thus a collection of highly variegated  phenomena and developments.

The relationships between Germany and Israel in the areas of politics, the sciences, business, cultural and societal affairs are well-rooted. In contrast to the “only” 50 years of working and other relationships existing between the countries in the areas of politics, the sciences, business, culture and social affairs, the mishmash is very young and very fast-moving. Driven by cutting-edge digital technologies and the glittering, “here and now” world of consumption, the mishmash is informed by and covers the pulsating creative scenes and the unforeseen and unforeseeable innovations they produce every day. These in turn impart new and thrilling perspectives to the above relationships.

A searching glance at the mishmash will no doubt reveal the webs of bilateral relationships coming into being in new areas. Woven by 2.0 pioneers, this web is continually being enriched, strengthened and extended. Encompassed in these webs are the culinary, fashionista and start-up heavens, hotspots and paradises found in the booming hipster scenes in Berlin, Tel Aviv and a range of other cities in both countries.

So let's take a look at the elastic and resilient web woven by these self-perpetuating ties – and at how they are transforming the German-Israeli lifestyle in this year of an important anniversary!
