„Mazal Tov!“

Six weeks of Israeli culture: In Munich, 50 years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel are being celebrated with art, dance and music.

From 26 March onwards, the Pasinger Fabrik cultural centre in the west of Munich will form the heart of “Mazal Tov!”, a festival of Israeli culture in honour of German-Israeli relations. The countless events at the cultural centre will come to an end on 12 May, the 50th anniversary of the day when diplomatic relations officially commenced between the two countries.

With the support of the Israeli Consulate General in Munich, during the festival there will be a stream of events – art, literature, film and dance. The exhibition on “Israel in München – I live In The East But My Heart Is In The West” will present Israeli artists whose oeuvres or biographies are somehow linked to Germany. Concerts performed by several ensembles and bands who are well known in Israel will give listeners a sense of the vibrant music life there. Those taking to the stage include Khalosh, Riff Cohen and Kbetch! Not to mention the Well brothers. There will be readings (by Norbert Kron and Amichai Shalev, among others), lectures and panel discussions – where writers, academics and journalists will debate Israeli-German relations. The programme also includes a film series and two dance performances by renowned contemporary dancers: “At Your Place” by Avi Kaiser and Sergio Antonino as well as “Two Room Apartment” by Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor.
